Happy Holidays

Hello everyone, 
I have just returned from a very quiet classroom where I have been putting finishing touches to our new role play area and sticking work into books. Whilst very very peaceful, I can't wait to see the children using the role pay where the theme is "Celebrations". There will be plenty of photographs for you to see each week on our blog when we return to school. Up until now there are lots of photographs in their books and I will sort out a couple of dates for you to come in to celebrate your children's learning so far.

PE kits will need to be returned on the Tuesday we start school. The children are thoroughly enjoying using the large apparatus which include wall bars, ropes, beams, ladders and floor mats. We are concentrating on climbing on and off as well as thinking about different ways of moving across the floor. Over the holidays please check that everything is named and your PE bag doesn't contain other children's clothing. This is quite normal for children in reception.

Keep writing names with your child as it is really important that they both recognise their name and can write it. Children are loving learning their tricky words and taking pride in their reading books. Please record in the reading record when you have heard your child read. We are unable to change books without seeing they have been read at home. We try and encourage parents to listen to books at least 2-3 times as this reassures children and gives greater confidence. Talking about pictures is every bit as important as reading the words.

Please can I remind you that Cygnus class finishes at 3.15 and not 3.20, this is to give you the opportunity to collect the youngest child first and then their older sibling. If my door has been closed after 3.20 it might well be that your child has been taken up to the office along with Rascal and bus children.
