Good bye to the blog

Hello, I had to do one last blog to let you know that the reason for no update wasn't because I had forgotten. As a school we are taking a break from blogging and information will be shared in the newsletter each week as well as on our exciting new website which will include class information. From time to time I will put information in the reading diary or as a paper copy in the reading folder.
Many thanks

Its getting colder

Hello, Happy New Year to you all. Many many thanks for all the lovely presents, delicious and otherwise. It was really kind of you. I hope you have had a lovely time. My husband knows I am ready to be back with the children as I keep finding more and more activities I want to add in to my planning. I am really looking forward to this term and the children may or may not have told you about our wonderful igloo in the role play area. Our topic is simply entitled Its Freezing and whilst my initial planning takes me to half term, this is subject to change week by week depending on what your children want to do. I thought it would be lovely to invite you in alternate Tuesday/Thursday mornings to look at children's learning or simply to share a book or write some post it notes for the learning journals. I am planning a big stay and make morning, working with your children to create and make. Looking forward to seeing you all,
Mrs Bq

Pantomime week

Thank you to everyone who came to the phonics presentation on Thursday. As I said at the meeting it is the support from home that really makes a difference to your child's progress and confidence in school.

The children were all stars in their first Nativity at school. They loved performing and I was very proud of them. As you will have seen, parts get bigger as they progress through each year group. Wait until they are starring in the Y6 summer production.

The children are exhausted and emotional so I have changed my curriculum to allow for this. Often children make more poor choices when they are tired so do not be alarmed if they mention reflection time on a more regular basis. This is usually given now for cooling off and thinking about what to do next. I will contact you if there are any real concerns.

I am not changing books in the last few days. I made sure that everyone had new books last week and these will last the Christmas holidays especially as it is such a busy time. Please do keep some learning up as it is too long a time to not be doing reading or words. If the children do any writing, for most of them I would like to see letters formed to look like letters and not just squiggles. There are naturally exceptions.

I will send PE kits home on Tuesday.

No book bags are needed on Wednesday or Thursday. I will add the 100 tricky words to the bags of children who are ready for them and some wow moments to fill in. I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities for these moments throughout the Christmas period.

Please do not send your child to school especially on Thursday if they have been sick the day before or in the night. Last year I had several children being sick with a bug both on the coach and during the pantomime which caused a lot of upset to them and other children. There will be plenty of opportunities for children to see the pantomime in future years. Collection after the pantomime is very busy and we will do our best to seed up the process but the safety of the children is my first concern. We are hoping that the coach will return on time but it depends on traffic. Please be at school for the suggested time stated on the letter.

We have church on Monday afternoon. The children will walk back to school and then can be collected from my door.

I am looking for a few parent volunteers to support reading in school on a regular weekly basis. You will need to have a DBS check which is done through the office. If you are interested please come and see me. I already have one kind offer.

Thank you for your support
Happy Christmas and holiday,
Leisha Bergqvist
